Priory of St. Evaristus - Asia
Priory of St. Evaristus which covers the :
Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Myanmar, Indonesia and Pakistan
International members for Asia are led by Grand Prior Derek Nordio
This Priory is led by GP Derek Nordio, he was knighted in 2019.
After serving as a Master Commander earned new rank of Prior on July 1, 2020. On March 26, 2022, I was appointed to the position of National Video Director.
I served as Grand Seneschal from June 25 to Sept 20, 2022, when I had the honor of becoming the Order's Grand Prior on September 20, 2022. On July 14th 2024 I was awarded by our Grand Master the OMSDT Silver Star for actions and service above and beyond the call of duty with an unwavering commitment to the Order. On November 14th 2024 Grand Master Rick Trujillo presented Grand Prior Derek Nordio with the OMSDT Merit Award for his leadership role in OMSDT.
History of St Evaristus
Pope Evaristus was the fifth pope of the Catholic Church being bishop of Rome from c. 99 to his death c. 107.
He was also known as Aristus and is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Catholic Church, and Oriental Orthodoxy.
He is often represented with a sword because he was decapitated, or with a crib, because it is believed that he was born in Bethlehem, from which his father emigrated. The institution of cardinal priests is by some ascribed to him, because he first divided Rome into several titles or parishes, assigning a priest to each; he also appointed seven deacons to attend the bishop. He is buried in the Vatican, near Saint Peter.
